Nuage Labs SAS, the leading developer of cloud storage gateways, and Farpoint Ventures LLC, a leading provider of venture finance and international sales and marketing outsourcing services, announced today that they have entered into a three-year agreement to develop the Asia Pacific market.
Under the agreement, Farpoint Ventures will act as an extension of Nuage’s sales and marketing team to recruit and sign distributors, value added resellers and systems integrators to resell Nuage’s cloud storage technology in Japan. Farpoint will also be responsible for technical support through its Tokyo office.

“Our service allows customers to profit from all the power of our unique mirroring feature, making it possible to store data simultaneously on multiple public or private clouds,” said Raphaël Nicoud, CEO of Nuage Labs. “Our gateway also offers transparent encryption of data before it is stored on the cloud, thus eliminating the risk of data falling into the wrong hands. Finally, our gateway offers protocol translation from legacy protocols allowing you to connect your existing legacy apps directly to the cloud with no modifications required.”

Farpoint Ventures has already secured a major Japanese electronics manufacturer as the first customer of the Nuage Labs Cloud Gateway in Japan. Nuage Labs CEO Raphaël Nicoud will be presenting the Cloud Gateway solution at a seminar in Tokyo on November 11, 2013.

PrePlay, Inc., the leading developer of “second screen” predictive mobile games, and Farpoint Ventures LLC, a leading provider of venture finance and international sales and marketing outsourcing services, announced today that they have entered into a three-year agreement to develop the Japan market.
Under the agreement, Farpoint Ventures will act as an extension of PrePlay’s sales and marketing team to recruit and sign licensees of PrePlay’s gaming technology in Japan. Farpoint will also be responsible for product localization and technical support through its Tokyo office.

Big Data pioneer and Farpoint Ventures portfolio company USP Lab today announced the availability of its Unicage® big data analytics platform on the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). Companies requiring a rich data analytics toolkit with an extremely fast learning curve and scalability to hundreds of billions of records can now get started quickly and cheaply using Amazon’s hourly billing.
Companies can develop their data algorithms on a minimal configuration for less than $1 per hour and then quickly scale up their processing resources to meet the demands of their actual data sets. When not processing data, the machine image can be stopped and saved to cloud storage for a very minimal fee.
Amazon EC2’s flexible “pay as you go” cloud model is a perfect fit for Unicage, which allows you to create algorithms in simple shell scripts and then scale them to hundreds of billions of records without any changes to your program. Universal Shell Programming Laboratory Ltd. (USP Lab), a pioneer in data analytics, and Farpoint Ventures LLC, a leading provider of venture finance and international sales and marketing outsourcing services, announced today that USP Lab’s founder and president, Nobuaki Tounaka, will be presenting at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Computing Resources in Boston and Beyond (CRIBB) series on August 2, 2013 at 12PM. Mr. Tounaka will present methods and results of several recent big data projects conducted with Japanese universities including a large genome analysis project and a traffic optimization project involving billions of spatio-temporal datapoints. He will show a real-time demonstration of the Unicage® platform analyzing datasets of billions of records and will also provide comparative benchmarks to popular scalable platforms such as Hadoop.

Under the agreement, Farpoint Ventures will act as an extension of USP Labs’ sales and marketing team to develop sales channels and end user customers in the United States for USP Labs’ flagship big data analytics platform Unicage®. Farpoint Ventures has already localized Unicage® and set up an internet presence for USP Labs at en.usp-lab.com. The localized version of Unicage will be available for purchase in the United States in July both as a license which can be used on customer-owned hardware and as a service on Amazon’s AWS platform.
